Hi there! In an effort to declutter my photography website, all quilting and sewing blogging has been moved to http://www.stephskardalquilts.com. Enjoy!

recent sewing projects

I haven’t been blogging much about sewing projects lately because I haven’t been sewing much! And, most of the projects I’ve been working on aren’t original or very novel, so sometimes I’m not sure how much to share about these projects. The past week I’ve been getting back into sewing, attempting to spend nap time working on some projects. I finished up a quilted baby blanket as well as a soft simple muslin blanket for an friend that’s expecting.

Anyways, the quilted blanket is a simple, crib sized blanket made entirely of Cloud9 Fabrics purchased from Jo-Anns. The binding is a flannel Cloud9 as well that is almost the same lime greenish color of the triangles on the top. Relative to quilting fabric costs at Jo-Anns, the fabric is on the more expensive end, but they are always running good sales and have great coupons accessible online or via text, so I think I got everything for the blanket on sale. The batting was even 50% off when I bought it. Hooray! I chose to quilt with diagonal straight lines, along the top triangle pattern, and I loved how it turned out. I want to keep it myself!

The simple muslin baby blanket is made out of a nursery fabric from Jo-Ann’s as well. I just hemmed the edges of it and it was a quick sew as a nice compliment to the quilted blanket.

The best part (shown above) is that toddler A wanted to contribute in the photography! She’s been very interested in her own hand-me-down camera lately and wants to join in when I’m taking pictures. A pink toddler camera won’t do – she has to have a real one. She also wanted to include a photo of Hungry Hippos – you can’t forget that!
