A while back, I discussed several valuable Google tools for website use including a recommendation to use Google Analytics. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with Tumblr. Here I’ll go through a brief tutorial on how to install Google Analytics in your Tumblr bog.
Step 1. Sign up for a Tumblr blog.
Step 2. Sign up for a Google Analytics account. Here I have two profiles: one for my main site and one for the tumblr blog.
Step 3. Use custom code for your Tumblr layout, shown above. I haven’t purchased any Tumblr themes, so I’m not sure if you can edit them, but you’ll need to be able to edit the HTML Tumblr template.
Step 4. Copy the Google Analytics code into the Tumblr template, recommended immediately before the </body> tag.
Step 5. Wait. And then look at the data.
Google Analytics is a free website analytics tool that allows you to measure standard analytics such as visitors, visitor demographics, content viewed, etc. You can also set up conversion events to see if your visitors are completing actions such as submitting a contact form or purchasing items.
